Arrests made in connection with death of West Lothian man George Robertson

Police have arrested a man and woman in connection with a crash which killed a West Lothian man last year.

George Robertson was knocked down and killed as he walked along the B792 between Bathgate and Torphichen in West Lothian on Sunday, September 20, 2020.

The 53-year-old was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after being discovered but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Police launched a manhunt to find the driver of the vehicle which struck George between 10.15pm and 11pm, before speeding off from the scene.

The Daily Record reported that officers confirmed they have arrested a 36-year old man and a 36-year old woman in connection with the fatal crash.

The pair have been released pending further enquiry.

Officers have also recovered a vehicle as part of the ongoing investigation.

Sergeant Stephen Quinn of the Road Policing Unit said: "Extensive enquiries continue to be conducted as we seek answers for George’s loved ones.

"This is a significant development in the investigation and our thoughts remain with his family and friends."
