Arrests made as PSG fans celebrate Champions League win with vandalism, fires and flares

  • Celebrations in France following Paris Saint-Germain's second Champions League title win descended into violence on Saturday night.
  • Police detained a total of 416 people across France, with 283 arrests made in the Paris area alone, after fans gathered to celebrate the victory over Arsenal on penalties.
  • Disturbances included vandalism of shops, setting fires, and an attempt to storm a police station in the posh 8th Arrondissement, resulting in one police officer being injured.
  • Six vehicles and two storefronts were damaged, and barricades made from bicycles were cleared near the PSG stadium in the 16th Arrondissement.
  • This incident echoes similar violence seen in May last year, when over 500 arrests were made across France after PSG's first title win.
