Arrests in Dublin after gardai seize €200,000 in cash from car on busy motorway

Two men were arrested after gardai seized €200,000 in cash from a vehicle on a busy Dublin motorway in the early hours of the morning.

Officers made the discovery following a search of the vehicle on the M4 in west Dublin at around 7.30 am.

They found cash to the value of €200,000. The seizure came as part of an ongoing investigation targeting serious organised criminal activity.

Two men, aged 24 and 47, were arrested for the offence of money laundering pursuant to Section 7 of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act 2010.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Both men are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Lucan Garda Station.

"Investigations are ongoing."
