Arrests after two people hit by car in 'hit and run' in Burnage

Two people were hit by a car in a hit and run near a school in Burnage yesterday evening, police have confirmed.

A man and a woman have now been arrested following the incident near Burnage Academy for boys.

Officers were called to Fair Oak Road just before 3pm to reports a collision Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

It was then established two people had been hit by a car that failed to remain at the scene.

One of the injured pedestrians left the scene prior to the police's arrival.

The second pedestrian, an 18-year-old man was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening GMP said.

The road was taped off near the junction with Burnage Lane for several hours into Tuesday evening.

The road was cordoned off for several hours (KBP)

Forensic crime scene investigation (CSI) were scene carrying out enquiries at the scene.

GMP are now asking anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call them on 0161 856 4833 or 101 quoting incident 1919 of 24/08/21.
