Two people have been arrested on suspicion of assault after a man was 'found lying in the street' with serious head injuries.
Emergency services, including forensic officers, were called to the scene on Chelsea Avenue in Radcliffe just before 3am yesterday (Sunday).
Police said they found a man, aged in his 50s, with serious but non-life threatening head injuries.
He was taken to hospital from the scene, where he remains in a stable condition.

They have both now been released on bail.

Neighbours told the M.E.N last night how the man was found lying injured in the street.
One resident said they heard the disturbance in the early hours and heard a 'man shouting'.
They said: "We heard a man screaming and shouting outside.
"Police were here early this morning when I woke up, and a man was lying on the grass on the corner of the street.
"He was taken off in an ambulance - it looked like he had head injuries like he had been attacked or something.

"We have lived here since the 70s and it used to be a lovely quiet place to live but recently the police have been called out here more and more."

Neighbours said a cordon had been in place and that officers had been making door-to-door enquiries throughout the day.
