Arrest warrant issued for Cardinals OT Desmond Harrison for alleged assault, strangulation

Greensboro, N.C. police have issued a felony arrest warrant for Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Desmond Harrison after strangulation and assault charges were filed against the 25-year-old, according to Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, who first reported the news.

The Greensboro Police Department issued the warrant for Harrison for alleged assault on a person by strangulation and assault on a female by a male (per Sobelski) early Wednesday morning.

The police report was filed against Harrison Tuesday, but it's unclear when the incident occurred, according to police spokesman Ron Glenn per Yahoo! Sports.

The identity of the woman and relationship with Harrison was not released. No reports on Harrison being a resident of the area but he spent his high school years in the state of North Carolina.

The Cardinal claimed Harrison off waivers in June, after he was waived by the Browns. The Cardinals cut him after news of the incident was released.

Harrison has a history of off-the-field issues. In 2014 he was suspended three times from the University of Texas after testing positive for weed. That same year he was also shot in the backside while spending spring break in Oakland, CA, according to Cleveland.com. He wouldn't play in college again until 2017 when he transferred to West Georgia.

Harrison went undrafted in 2018 and got signed as a free agent by the Browns. He started in eight games his rookie season, then was benched for the rest of the season after missing team meetings. The Browns felt he was unreliable and took too many missteps, so when he showed up late _ an unclear incident Browns coach Freddie Kitchens said involved missing a flight _ for a mandatory three-day minicamp, the team wasn't willing to keep him much longer.
