Detectives have confirmed a 34-year-old man from Wirral has been arrested on suspicion of assault. He is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives.
It is believed that before to the assault, there was an argument in the Arrowe Park pub, on Arrowe Park Road, which reportedly involved a number of men and may be connected to the attack. An investigation is underway including witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries which are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Emma Kerrigan said: "Enquiries are in the very early stages to establish what has taken place. I would urge anyone who was in the area of Church Lane and in the Arrowe Park pub at around 5.30pm onwards to please come forward and help with our enquiries, as your evidence could be vital to the investigation.
"I would also appeal to drivers and people with CCTV in the area who might have captured something on their dash cam and CCTV to come forward and speak to us."
