Arrest made after man found dead following disturbance in Johnstone

A man has died following a disturbance in Johnstone last night.

Police and emergency services attended the scene following reports of the disturbance around 8.30pm on High Street.

A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and that enquiries are ongoing.

The road remains closed at the moment, with traffic diversions in place, as Police continue to conduct enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 8:30pm on Wednesday, 1 April, 2020, police received a report of a disturbance in the High Street, in Johnstone. 

"Emergency services attended and a 26-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"A 17-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing. 

"High Street remains closed as officers continue to conduct enquiries. 

"Anyone who has witnessed the incident or has information please phone 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111".
