Arrest made after man, 40s, seriously assaulted outside Tallaght fast food restaurant in early morning attack

A man in his 40s is in serious condition in hospital after being attacked outside a fast food restaurant in South Dublin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At approximately 3am, gardai attended the car park of a restaurant at Belgard Road, Tallaght after receiving reports that a man had been seriously assaulted - receiving facial injuries.

The man did not receive medical attention at the scene but was brought to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Gardai investigating the assault have arrested a man in his 20s who is currently being detained at Tallaght Garda Station.

A spokesman for Gardai said that they are "appealing for anyone who was in the Belgard Road area on 3/8/19 between 2:30am – 3:30am who may have witnessed the incident to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
