Arrest made after abandoned manor house gutted in blaze

  • A 14-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at Woolton Hall, a Grade I-listed manor house in Liverpool.
  • Merseyside Police described the blaze, which occurred on Tuesday evening, as an "extremely reckless act", noting reports of a large number of youths gathering nearby.
  • The arrested girl was taken into custody for questioning and has since been conditionally bailed.
  • Detective Inspector Daniel McWhinnie stated the police are determined to find all those responsible for the fire at the historic 1704 building.
  • Police are appealing for anyone who was present, knows who was there, or parents whose children were out that night to come forward.
