Arrest as man left with slash wounds to face after assault

A man has been arrested after a serious assault in Ballymagorry which left the victim needing hospital treatment for slash wounds to the face.

The assault is reported to have happened in the small Co Tyrone village at around 5am on Sunday.

Police have detained a 43-year-old man following reports of the attack.

He has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

The victim, in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Police have said those injuries centred on slash wounds to the face and added that the assault occurred in the middle of the village.

They have appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
