A man aged 26 has been arrested after vehicles were discovered on fire in the middle of Pontypridd town centre.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed officers received a report of a two-vehicle fire in Mill Street, Pontypridd, at around 5.51am on Thursday, January 16.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "Crews from Pontypridd station attended the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.
"The incident concluded at approximately 6.37am."
South Wales Police has confirmed that a man, aged 26, from Porth , has been arrested in connection with the fires.
A spokesman for the force confirmed two vehicles were damaged, including a Mercedes Sprinter van and a Renault Kangoo.
An eyewitness who passed the scene at around 6am described what he saw.
He said: "While riding my bike through Pontypridd I noticed the van on fire. I called 999 immediately.
"Something on the van exploded while I was talking to the fire service so I moved to a safe distance.
"I then noticed the second van on fire and waited for the fire brigade to arrive before moving on."
