Arrest after teen left with suspected fractured jaw in North Belfast attack

A 16-year-old has been left with a suspected fractured jaw after an alleged assault in North Belfast last week.

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses after an incident occurred in the Woodvale Park area of the city around 5pm on Friday, June 18.

One man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Sergeant Rutherford said: "At approximately 5pm on Friday June 18th a [16-year-old] man was assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment for a suspected fractured jaw.

"A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

"Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact police at Tennent Street on 101 quoting reference number 1267 of the 18/06/21.

"If you would prefer to provide information without giving your details, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
