Arrest after latest stabbing in St Pauls left man critically injured

A man has been arrested in connection with the latest stabbing in Bristol which left a man critically injured.

The victim, in his 30s, is recovering after suffering “a number of stab wounds” from an attacker in St Pauls.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a short statement on social media: “A 30-year-old man has been arrested after a stabbing in Grosvenor Road, St Pauls, on Wednesday, September 16 shortly after 9pm.

“A man, in his 30s, remains in hospital but is making a good recovery. We believe this is an isolated incident.”

This incident comes after two recent stabbings in inner city Bristol.

Andre Gayle, 29, died in hospital after being knifed near Easton Community Centre on August 31.

He was one of two men injured in the attack, which followed an Easton Road stabbing the day before.

Bristol poet Lawrence Hoo was walking home after his 13-year-old son’s birthday party at the Cabot Circus TGI Fridays when he saw a huge police presence in the area.

He said there were more than 10 police cars and armed police with bulletproof masks and a cordon was in place.

He has raised concerns about the ongoing violence in the city which needs to be addressed.

“I should have a different reaction to seeing it. It’s just upsetting and distressing. It’s not shocking any more,” he added.

A police force spokesman said at the time of the incident "Our enquiries into what happened are continuing and CCTV footage is being reviewed as we actively search for the offender.

"Anyone who witnessed what happened is asked to report it online or call 101 and give reference number 5220211062."
