Arrest after DPD delivery driver found seriously injured on Hamilton street

A man has been arrested after a parcel delivery driver was found seriously injured in a Scots town.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Portland Place in Hamilton at around 12.40pm on Tuesday.

A 45-year-old man was found with serious injuries and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

Police Scotland confirmed a 25-year-old man had now been arrested in connection with the incident.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the disturbance to come forward.

A spokeswoman said: “Police were called about 12.40pm on Tuesday, 19 May, 2020, to a report of a disturbance in Portland Place, Hamilton.

"A 45-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this and enquiries are ongoing.

"Officers remain at the scene conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

"Anyone who witnessed this and has not yet spoken to officers is urged to contact police on 101 and quote incident 1481 of 19 May."
