Arrest after car ploughs into the back of an ambulance in Reddish

An arrest has been made after a car collided with the back of an ambulance in Reddish.

Police were called to Gorton Road in Reddish at 5.10pm this evening to reports that a vehicle had collided with an ambulance.

Greater Manchester Police have since confirmed that the occupant of the car was arrested.

Danielle Westbrook, who witnessed the crash, sent the M.E.N a photo showing the extent of the damage to the car.

It shows significant damage to the entire front end of the vehicle, with the airbags deployed and the bonnet crumpled almost entirely in half.

Police say there are no reported injuries as a result of the collision.

Danielle told the M.E.N that she saw people screaming and running around in the immediate aftermath of the crash.

Danielle said: "It was bad. The car sped into the back of the ambulance. It was very, very bad people were screaming.

"The traffic was stopped for hours, it was shocking

"There was loads of police sorting the traffic out and people were running around."

Police say enquires are ongoing into the incident.
