Around town: Blackhawks bring Stanley Cup to Dierks Bentley and Mumford Sons concerts

June 20--The Blackhawks pulled double duty Friday night.

The players brought the Stanley Cup trophy to the Mumford Sons' concert at Montrose Beach, where the Blackhawks' Niklas Hjalmarsson invited members of the Grammy-winning band to drink from the Cup on stage.

"It's a great thing I didn't tell (them) where it's been the last couple days," Hjalmarsson told the crowd once the band members were done drinking from the trophy, according to a video posted on YouTube.

Afterward, the guys headed about nine miles south to Northerly Island where they joined country singer Dierks Bentley on stage as he performed "Drunk On a Plane" during Windy City LakeShake music festival. Bentley was handed a No. 7 Blackhawks jersey (which he said was his lucky number) with his last name on the back of it.

"If you're going to get drunk on a plane, you need a really big cup," Bentley said as the players made their way on stage with the trophy. "You need a really big cup to get drunk on a plane."

Bentley introduced Duncan Keith, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp individually as they each held up the trophy. And because it was a concert, there was also some stage diving -- though Bentley felt the Blackhawks need to work on their form.

"They can play hockey," Bentley said, "but they don't know how to stage dive."

This wasn't Kane's first time bringing a trophy to a concert at Northerly Island. Kane brought the Stanley Cup to Jimmy Buffett's show there in 2013. He also made a cameo with the Cup at Buffett's concert at Toyota Park in 2010.
