Around the SEC: Score updates

In the first real Saturday of college football, every SEC team, sans Florida and Texas A&M, was in action.

And it was not the strongest showing for the conference throughout the day.

A few teams, like Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Arkansas, struggled to beat vastly inferior teams talent-wise (Louisiana, Toledo, and Portland State, respectively).

Tennessee flat out lost against Georgia State, which was coming off of a 2-10 2018 campaign.

Missouri, which was expected to be a competitive team in the East this season, lost to Wyoming of the Mountain West, 37-31.

South Carolina lost to a UNC team with a new head coach coming off a 2-10 season.

And Ole Miss fell short to Memphis, 15-10.

Even the SEC champion, the Alabama Crimson Tide, got off to a sluggish start before eventually pulling away from Duke. As did Georgia, allowing Vanderbilt to hang around.

It was not the greatest day for SEC fans who are looking to hype up the conference’s depth.
