Dec. 13--American LeagueCentral Division
White Sox: Additions of Jeff Samardzija, David Robertson and Adam LaRoche should make Sox instant contenders if defense holds up.
Indians: Quiet so far, but adding Brandon Moss is an upgrade. Now if the Tribe can only find a sucker for Nick Swisher.
Royals: AL pennant winners could finish fourth in the Central after losing James Shields. But never underestimate Ned Yost.
Tigers: Nice moves getting Yoenis Cespedes and Alfredo Simon on last day of meetings, but losing Max Scherzer still hurts.
Twins: With Ervin Santana on board and following Phil Hughes in rotation, Twins won't be pushovers under Paul Molitor.
East Division
Blue Jays: Signing Russell Martin and acquiring Josh Donaldson adds more firepower without giving up top pitching prospects.
Orioles: Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Nelson Cruz's defection to Mariners a huge loss for AL East champs.
Rays: After Andrew Friedman and Joe Maddon split, the Rays are seemingly in Operation Shutdown mode.
Red Sox: Rick Porcello, Wade Miley and Justin Masterson add pitching depth, but failure to reel in Jon Lester was stunning.
Yankees: Great pickup in Andrew Miller, the best lefty reliever on market. But the return of the A-Rod circus could doom them.
West Division
Angels: Haven't done much except dump Howie Kendrick, but with A's conceding they should run away with West.
Astros: May have overpaid for quality setup men Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek, but at least they're trying.
Athletics: Billy Beane busy on "Moneyball 2.0" script where he unloads everyone. Seth Rogen plays Beane in the sequel.
Mariners: Nelson Cruz joins Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager, while King Felix on a mission after perceived Cy Young snub.
Rangers: Ross Detwiler deal gives them a nice option for rotation, and they can't possibly be worse than 2014.

Cubs: After stealing Joe Maddon and signing Jon Lester, Cubs are like MLB's version of Corleone family. Which one's Fredo?
Brewers: If the inactivity keeps up, Bernie Brewer will be living in subsidized housing by opening day.
Cardinals: Sure, they have the financial resources to sign Max Scherzer, but that's not the Cardinals' way.
Pirates: A.J. Burnett and Antonio Bastardo? Meh. Losing Russell Martin puts all the pressure on Andrew McCutchen -- again.
Reds: Marge Schott is turning over in her grave, though it probably has nothing to do with Reds dumping salaries.
East Division
Braves: Justin Upton and Evan Gattis are still available. John Hart may have to try Craigslist at this point.
Marlins: Mat Latos and Dee Gordon were very smart moves for small-market team with an underrated manager.
Mets: Hard to believe the large-market Mets were so irrelevant at the winter meetings. No incidentals on their hotel bill.
Nationals: Really don't need to improve much, except manager Matt Williams' decision-making in postseason games.
Phillies: Everything must go so they can start their do-over. Say a prayer for poor Ryne Sandberg.
West Division
Diamondbacks: Signing of Yasmany Tomas was offset by dumping salary elsewhere. Is Mark Trumbo next?
Dodgers: Andrew Friedman already has earned his $35 million contract in winter-meetings trading frenzy, but bullpen's still weak.
Giants: Brian Sabean let Pablo Sandoval leave and lost out on Jon Lester. Still the best GM in the game by far.
Padres: Acquiring Matt Kemp still isn't enough for the weak-hitting Padres, who could use two more big bats.
Rockies: No interest in Troy Tulowitzki? How can they rebuild if they can't get prospects for their best player?
