Around 8,500 apply for Delhi University centenary chance exam

NEW DELHI: The online application portal for the centenary chance examination at Delhi University closed on Friday. Senior officials on Saturday said that the university received around 8,500 applications.

DS Rawat, dean of examination, said, "We received a total of 13,671 registrations for the centenary chance examination out of which 8,560 applicants completed the process by making the fee payment. The portal has now been opened for the respective colleges for verification purposes."

Following verification of the applications, DU is expected to release a final list of the candidates who will be appearing for the examination.

The centenary chance examination, which is meant to give a chance to those former students who have been unable to complete their degrees, is scheduled to be held in October this year and March next year. While the examination will be held in the offline mode, the question papers are expected to be set based on the syllabus of the respective candidates' timeline.

"The data will be analysed to see which are the papers people have applied for. There might even be instances that for a same paper, the syllabus required is different as the two candidates are from different batches. We will make efforts to source as much of the syllabus as possible. If there is any obstacle in that regard, we will take a decision later," Rawat explained.

Meanwhile, DU is also expected to declare results of 36 undergraduate courses and 18 postgraduate courses for nearly 37,000 students.Rawat added that emails have been sent to over 65,000 students regarding steps to be followed in case of grievances pertaining to the semester VI results.
