The number of children absent from school for Covid-19 related reasons has risen over the past fortnight.
Figures from the Department for Education estimate that 2.6% of all pupils – around 209,000 children – did not attend class for Covid-19 related reasons on Thursday last week, up from 2.5% (approximately 204,000 children) on September 30, WalesOnline report.
The main reason for absence amongst the pupils was a confirmed case of coronavirus, with around 111,000 pupils off for this reason, compared to approximately 102,000 a fortnight before.

Overall, some 90% of students were in class on October 14, which is up slightly on 89.5% on September 30.
Secondary school pupils in Scotland will continue to wear face coverings in class, according to new guidance from the Scottish Government.
A more cautious approach is being taken, advised by clinicians including chief medical officer Dr Gregor Smith, to provide ample time for 12-15 year olds to take up the first dose of vaccination.
Last month Education Secretary, Nadhim Zahawi warned that masks could return to school as part of the Government's Covid-19 contingency plan, but said there will not be a return of group bubbles within schools.
