Around 1,200 homes left without power after fire at sub station

Around 1,200 homes were left without power due to a fire in the area.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, April 7, after reports of a fire at one of the electrical sub stations.

Firefighters from West Bridgford fire station were called to the scene at 1.39am at Old Station Drive in Ruddington.

Western Power said the majority of customers have now had their supply restored.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 1.30am, West Bridgford Station along with Western Power were in attendance at an electrical sub station fire off Old Station Drive, Ruddington.

"This has caused a power cut affecting up to 1200 homes in the area.

Western Power added: " The majority of customers have their supply restored, We're sorry engineers have now estimated to restore the remaining supplies to those affected by 11am."
