Aron Baynes hints at a return to Celtics, to exercise player option

The Boston Celtics are headed towards a critical summer as there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of superstar point guard Kyrie Irving and other Celtics free agents. However, one potential Celtics free agent has made it known that he would love to stay in Bean Town.

Backup big man Aron Baynes recently stated that he loves Boston and that he would like to stay next season.

Per CLNS’ Adam Kaufman (h/t CLNS and CelticsBlog’s Evan Valenti:

Aron Baynes sounds like a guy that wants to come back next season. The Australian chatted with CLNS’ very own Adam Kaufman on this week’s Celtics Beat. “I love Boston. Boston’s been great to me. My family is comfortable here” said the Celtics big man. “I have to have a chat with Danny and Brad in the next couple of weeks. Want to see what their thoughts are as well. If everything lines up I’d still love to come back.

My heart is still in this…I want to add to the Celtics legacy,” he concluded.

Baynes averaged 5.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 51 games with 18 starts this past season. He signed a two-year, $10.6 million deal with the second year being a player option. He’s slated to make $5.5 million next season.
