COP26 Glasgow: Arnold Schwarzenegger 'cannot wait' to go for beers when he visits city for summit

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed he is coming to Glasgow later this year and said he "cannot wait" to visit a local boozer for a few beers while he is here.

The former governor of California, 73, made the comments during an interview with MP Alok Sharma as they discussed his role as the President of COP26, which takes place from November 1 to 12 at the the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) on the River Clyde.

The Terminator and Predator actor shared a video of the conversation on his official Facebook page, urging his fans and followers to watch it so they could find out what COP26 is and why he will be heading to Glasgow to attend it.

Big Arnie said that having the event hosted in the UK has made him think the summit is "going to be great", especially given the fact it is being held in a country led by a Prime Minister in Boris Johnson who he considers to be "the real deal".

Alok Sharma then asked him: "I'll hope when you come [to Glasgow] we can have a few beers in one of our local pubs, I think you'll enjoy that," to which Arnold replied, "I cannot wait, I cannot wait."

It comes after US special climate envoy John Kerry reportedly revealed to his staff that Pope Francis is also coming to Glasgow to address world leaders on the first day of the summit on November 1.

The Former US Secretary of State did so after meeting the pontiff at the Vatican over the weekend, later telling the media that His Holiness "intends" to attend the summit.

Imagine walking into a cafe in Partick and the Pope and big Arnie are sitting there having a blether? It might just happen!
