Arnold Clark gives £100k to Cash for Kids

MOTORING giant Arnold Clark has once again pledged its support to Cash for Kids this year with a £100,000 donation to the children’s charity.

The generous six-figure sum was given just in time for the charity’s Mission Christmas campaign, which seeks to highlight and combat child poverty over the festive season.

The campaign also aims to provide a present for every child to open on Christmas Day via gift donation and collection centres throughout the country.

Arnold Clark boss Eddie Hawthorne was named chairman of the Radio Clyde-supported charity’s board of trustees in 2018 and, for the fourth year running, the motoring group is being awarded the charity’s platinum plaque in recognition of its continued support.

The major car dealer’s continuing backing for Cash for Kids has also resulted in the gift of two cars – a three-door and a five-door MINI for the charity to auction off at two lunch events being held this month to raise more money for the cause.

Arnold Clark has also helped put Cash for Kids’ festive fundraising for 2019 on screen. The group’s in-house film studio created a video to drive home the need to help the most vulnerable children in the west of Scotland, both at Christmas and throughout the year.

The automotive outfit has also created print work for Cash for Kids at its in-house print facility, and is providing a minibus on a one-year loan to whichever school raises the most funds through the Cash for Kids’ Christmas Jumper Day event.

Eddie Hawthorne presented the cheque to Cash for Kids’ regional manager Debbie Fraser at a special charity lunch in Glasgow. And Radio Clyde favourites George Bowie and Cassi Gillespie were there to hand over the platinum plaque.

The Arnold Clark chief said: “We are delighted to continue our support for Cash for Kids. This incredibly important charity has been working tirelessly for almost four decades to alleviate child poverty, which is an issue of national importance.

“We hope the donation will help Cash for Kids support those young people who are most desperately in need of help.”

Debbie Fraser added: “We are again delighted to award Arnold Clark with a platinum disc in recognition of their generous support towards vulnerable children across Glasgow and the west of Scotland. It means we can help make a difference to the lives of the poorest children in our communities.”
