Arne Engels names where he's improved most since signing for Celtic

Arne Engels has now been a Celtic player for almost a year and feels he has come on leaps and bounds since his record-breaking transfer.

The Belgian midfielder was signed from Bundesliga outfit Augsburg for a cool £11million last summer and has shown why the club were persuaded to part with such a significant amount of cash.

That price tag was always going to come with a large dollop of pressure on the player but he has brushed that aside. 23 goal involvements is a strong contributions and his all-round displays have been encouraging.

The 21-year-old moved to Parkhead to challenge himself at a club where the expectations are huge and he feels that has helped him improve his winning mentality.

Speaking to the gathered press ahead of facing Aberdeen, Engels said: "I think of course you're trying to get better in every aspect of the game and I've done that already.

"You come into a Celtic team that is really dominant and that was not really my case before in Augsburg.

"Now you come here, you are the dominant team and need to win. That's a different thing and you need to play a bit different than what you're used to.

"I adapted really well I think and I'm making a lot of progress with a lot of things."

Asked if those demands were a surprise in any way, he added: "No, I expected it. It's also a reason why I wanted to come here, because you're expected to win.

"Also to play for trophies, for the league, it's something different and I wanted to experience that because it's a totally different mentality to other teams.

"I also wanted to add that to my bank and to show that I had that, so it was a reason to come here."
