Villarreal host Manchester United in the penultimate match of Group F with the Reds only ahead of the Spaniards with a better head-to-head record but the Yellow Submarine have a number of doubts going into the clash.
The trip to the Estadio de la Cerámica will see Michael Carrick take charge of his first managerial match and also his first as caretaker manager following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal.
It is a must-win for the Reds if they are to avoid a nervy wait to learn their fate in the final group match where they host Young Boys whilst Atalanta and Unai Emery's side go toe-to-toe.
Last time the two sides faced each other, United had a close run-in with the Yellow Submarine after they endured early dominance from the visitors but two second-half goals including Cristiano Ronaldo's late strike sunk their hopes and meant they left OId Trafford empty-handed.
But Emery's preparations are far from ideal as he nervously awaits the fitness of three players including a striker crisis.
They will be without their prolific striker Gerard Moreno as it comes too soon after his hamstring injury following his absence from the bench at the weekend.
The Spanish forward scored the opener in the Europa League final as they eventually came out on top in the penalty shootout, whilst Paco Alcacer is a doubt.
Arnaut Danjuma, who was named man-of-the-match during the defeat at Old Trafford, is a doubt after he too missed the draw with Celta Vigo at the weekend with an ankle injury but did participate in the preparations.
Another notable absentee from the share of the spoils is former Spurs midfielder Etienne Capoue who starred in the 2-0 win over Young Boys last time out but did feature in first-team training.
Juan Foyth was previously a doubt and was substituted in the second half against Celta, but Emery said that was part of his recovery.
Speaking at the weekend, Emery said : "It is difficult to know if [Arnaut] Danjuma, [Etienne] Capoue or [Paco] Alcácer will be on Tuesday. They have stayed at home because they could not participate.
"Some have injuries with more risks than others. Today they could not be. We will see if we can recover any of the four [Juan] Foyth was coming out of an injury and we wanted to be under control and we subtracted a bit from his effort on the field."
