Arnaud Djoum hands Hearts transfer boost as midfielder leaves door open for Tynecastle stay

Arnaud Djoum insists he hasn't shut the door on signing a new deal with Hearts and will make his decision after the African Cup of Nations.

The midfielder is with the Cameroon squad at present and they kick off their tournament today against Guinea-Bissau.

The Premiership side have offered the free agent star a new deal, but he also has the chance to join Apollon Limassol and Panathinaikos.

And Djoum has insisted he's in no rush to decide his future until after the competition.

He said: "I have plenty of options. I could stay or I could go elsewhere.

"But this is not a concern for me because I am focused at the moment on having a good tournament in Egypt.

"The possibility of a transfer? I'll think about that after the tournament.

"I have a proposal from Hearts about an extension and I've left that with my agents.
"The door has been left open for me and I will announce my decision at the end of this competition."

And Djoum admits he's relishing working with Cameroon manager Clarence Seedorf and his assistant, Patrick Kluivert.

He said: "We have had a training camp in Qatar and we are all in good shape for the Cup of Nations.

"I have learned a lot working with a legend like Clarence Seedorf.

"As a midfielder myself, I am thrilled to be working with someone like him.

He really helps me, he shows me where I should be on the pitch and it's just a terrific bonus to work with a manager like that.

"He knows the ingredients to win, because he has won a lot in his career."

Hearts are also keen on bringing Jamie Walker back to Tynecastle.
