The attack occurred about 2.10pm. The rangers were returning to base after assignments at polling stations in tambon Dusongyo.

The explosion, at a curve in the road between Kato and Nam Hom villages in tambon Dusongyo, slightly damaged the pickup.

Capt Yuthasak Khaosuwan, commander of Ranger Company 4902, received a minor injury to his left eye. Two other rangers, Phakphum Sithirak and Nuriman Kubosu, were briefly deafened by the explosion.
