JAMMU: To fortify the confidence of people in the good intent of the Indian Army and to motivate the youth of forward areas to join the defence services, Indian Army conducted “A Day in Army Camp” for children and youth of Balakote, Sandote and Behrote at Peer Baba in district Rajouri (J&K).
PRO Defence Jammu Lt Col Devender Anand said, "The Objective of the activity was to familiarize the children with the troops and give them an insight about the functioning, traditions and the life in general in the Indian Army."
"At the same time, it was also an activity to bridge the gap and erase inhibitions amongst the general public about the image of the Armed Forces, Col Anand said. Defence spokesperson said, "The children were acquainted with the adventure, sports and other routine activities which constitute a way of life in the Indian Army." " The excitement and enthusiasm radiated by the children during the entire schedule was distinctly visible. Sports activities were organised to encourage the youth to direct their bubbling energies in a positive direction."
Col Anand said, "The visitors were engaged to display a small weapon for children in order to motivate them to join Indian Army. They were addressed by the Indian Army and an informal interaction session was also organised between children and Indian Army."
"An educational talk was also given to the children on how to join defence forces as an officer and other ranks through permanent commission, short service commission (women) and recruitment rallies organised all over the Nation."
Col Anand said, "The Sarpanch and the populace of Peer Baba and remote areas expressed their gratitude towards the Indian Army for organising the special event." "This endeavor by the army is a miniscule but genuine effort to sculpt a better future for the present generation and help them become an active element of the Nation’s mainstream,"said Col Anand
