Army helicopters landing at Leeds General Infirmary in military response to Covid-19 pandemic

A number of army helicopters have been spotted landing on the helipad on top of the Leeds General Infirmary today (Wednesday).

Footage sent to LeedsLive shows the moment one chopper lands on the helipad - typically used by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance when transporting patients.

This is part of the "military response" to the outbreak of coronavirus and the aircraft were "delivering key personnel to West Yorkshire".

Leeds is now 10 days into lockdown, with the number of deaths from Covid-19 still rising daily. Five more people have died in the last 24 hours

In a statement, a spokesperson for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said:

"The army was delivering key personnel to West Yorkshire as part of the military’s response to the COVID-19 situation in the region.”
