Army bomb squad rush to scene of suspect device in Ballymun

The Army bomb squad are currently en route to the scene of a suspect device in north Dublin.

Gardai rushed to the scene at Balbutcher Lane in Ballymun when they were called to the scene just before 7pm this evening.

Roads around the area are currently shut and local diversions are in place as emergency services remain on scene.

The suspect device is understood to have been found inside a local business, and a controlled explosion is currently being carried out.

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident at Balbutcher Lane, Ballymun.

"A suspect device was sighted in the area and Gardaí were alerted to the incident shortly after 6:50pm. The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are currently en route.

"Local diversions are in place."
