Army bomb squad called to Sutton coast line due to suspect device

The garda bomb disposal unit and a large garda presence rushed to the scene of a suspect device in Dublin earlier today.

The incident unfolded in Sutton at around 11am this morning.

A number of garda units along with the Army Explosive Ordnance Unit attended the scene on Shielmartin Road.

Thankfully, the device was deemed non viable and was removed from the scene safely.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí responded to reports of a suspect device in Shielmartin Road, Sutton at approximately 11am this morning, Sunday 16th August 2020.

"The area was sealed off and the Army Explosive Ordnance Unit attended the scene and deemed it to be a non viable device.

"The device was removed from the area."
