Army announces movements of personnel, equipment

Personnel and military equipment of the 5th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion of the 1st AAA Regiment will be moved from Bangkok to Lop Buri province on Monday for a field exercise before returning to their base on Friday, army deputy spokeswoman Col Sirichan Ngathong said in a press briefing on Sunday.

Starting about 6am on Monday, the army personnel and equipment will be transported by road from the 1st AAA Regiment headquarters along Chaeng Watthana, Vibhavadi Rangsit and Phahon Yothin roads to the Artillery Centre in Muang district of Lop Buri.

After completing the exercise, they will return to their Bangkok base along the same route on Friday, starting from 8pm.

Some of the personnel and equipment will also be transported by train from Phahon Yothin railway station to Khok Krathiam railway station in Lop Buri on Monday, and return along the same route on Friday, said the spokeswoman.

The announcement was apparently made to prevent public alarm when the troops and equipment appear.
