Armie Hammer calls out Marvel chairman for financially supporting Trump

Armie Hammer has suggested people should boycott Marvel.

In a recent tweet, the Call Me By Your Name actor highlighted that the chairman of Marvel Entertainment is one of Donald Trump’s “largest financial contributors”.

He wrote: “Hey, while everyone seems to be on this Equinox thing, it might be a good time to mention that one of Trump’s largest financial contributors is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment (Isaac Perlmutter)….. jussayin.”

Hammer’s point came after it was reported that people were protesting outside Equinox and Soul Cycle fitness centres after discovering the chairman was hosting a fundraiser to support the president’s 2020 re-election big.

According to government reports, Marvel Entertainment chairman Isaac Perlmutter donated the maximum an individual can possibly donate ($2,800) to Trump’s campaign. These reports also reveal Perlmutter donated around half a million dollars to wider Republican campaigns.

Marvel Entertainment is the company that covers Marvel Comics, Marvel Animation and the TV shows released before the advent of new streaming service Disney+.

As the CEO of the company from 2005 to 2017, it’s believed Perlmutter was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “creative committee”.

This branch stopped contributing to the development of films in 2015 when Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige took on sole responsibility and has paved the way for a more diverse range of films, including Black Panther, Captain Marveland the forthcoming Shang-Chi
