Armed thugs pull knife on mum and steal child's present, mobile phone and shopping

A mum was left "shaken" after being robbed near her home in broad daylight by thugs armed with a knife.

Police said the disturbing robbery happened yesterday, Thursday, February 11 around 2.35pm on Gorsey Lane in Bootle.

Two men are said to have approached the mum who had been out shopping.

One of the men pulled out a knife and demanded she hand over her mobile phone, bags of shopping and money.

Posting about the robbery afterwards on Facebook, the woman's husband said it happened near their home and a child's present was among the items stolen.

The two men are then said to have fled in the direction of Netherton Fire Station.

The man with the knife is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s and around 5ft 7in tall. He was of slim build with dark ginger hair and was wearing a black fleece snood and black waterproof jacket and black tracksuit pants.

The second man was of slim build and wearing dark clothing.

Police said the mum was left "shaken" but unhurt by her ordeal.

CCTV and house-to-house enquiries have been carried out in the surrounding area.

Detective Inspector Leanne Toole said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the arear of Gorsey Lane who saw the two males or anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area in a car or on foot and thinks they captured something significant on dashcam or a mobile device to get in touch.”
