A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police told the ECHO it is believed the thugs used force to stop the Mercedes before threatening the driver and demanding he handed over money.

One man was left with injuries that are believed to have been caused by a baseball bat, police confirmed.

The incident happened in Tuebrook on Monday, May 10, at around 8.20pm, on the junction of Denman Drive and Newsham Drive.

Merseyside Police confirmed an investigation is underway following the incident .

A spokesperson said: "When patrols arrived at the scene they located a silver Mercedes car with damage to a window.

"Enquiries were carried out and the owner of the car, a 34 year-old man, was located and spoken to.
