Police are warning residents about a series of armed robberies this month in Longwood Manor and Fernwood on the South Side.

In each case, three or four men pulled up in a vehicle and held up a lone male victim at gunpoint, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The robberies occurred:

  • About 11:30 a.m. Dec. 4 in the 9900 block of South Emerald Avenue;
  • About 4:15 p.m. Dec. 4 in the 9600 block of South Bishop Street; and
  • About 1:40 p.m. Dec. 12 in the 10100 block of South Union Avenue.

The suspects were described as three or four men between 22 and 25 years old, according to police. One wore his hair in dreadlocks, while the others had short hair.

One of the robbers displayed a black handgun in each hold-up, police said. They were seen driving a silver Ford Taurus and a gray Kia sedan.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-745-8273.
