Armed robbers wielding metal tools threaten staff at Wigan shop

Armed robbers targeted a Wigan convenience shop armed with metal tools. 

Staff were threatened during the incident, which happened at the McColls store on Newton Road in Lowton. 

No one was hurt but the thieves fled the scene with stock. 

In a tweet, GMP Leigh, Atherton and Hindley said: “Good Afternoon from your Golborne and Lowton neighbourhood team,  

“As you may have seen on social media, McColls shop on Newton road was subject to a robbery last night.  

“Thankfully no one was hurt but the offenders were armed with a metal tools and made threats towards the staff, they have taken stock and made off in a small blue vehicle. 

“Enquiries are ongoing. If anyone has any information or dash cam footage / CCTV please contact GMP quoting incident no 2889 11/02/2021.
