Armed robbers steal cash and cigarettes during raid on corner shop

Armed robbers stole cash and cigarettes during a raid at a corner shop in Atherton.

Two men targeted the McColl's store in Car Bank Street at about 9.05pm last Thursday (March 11).

Police believe one of the men was carrying a knife at the time.

No injures have been reported and no arrests have been made at this stage.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers were called around 9.05pm on Thursday 11 March 2021 to a report of an armed robbery at a business premises on Car Bank Street, Atherton.

"Enquiries have since established two males had entered the premises before stealing cigarettes and money from tills. One of the males is believed to have been in possession of a knife.

"No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made."
