Armed robbers smash their way into Wigan shop and make off with stolen cash

A group of armed thieves broke into a convenience store and snatched cash before making off.

Police are investigating the incident, which happened around 6am yesterday (Thursday) at the McColls shop on Atherton Road in Hindley Green.

Fortunately nobody was hurt in the robbery and the store has opened to the public as normal today.

However, officers are calling for anyone who might have information about the incident to get in touch.

A spokesman for GMP said: "Just after 6am yesterday, officers were called to a report of an armed robbery on Atherton Road in Wigan.

"It is believed three men, two of which were armed, broke into the store and made off with cash.

"No one was injured.

"Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information can call 101 quoting incident 402 of 19/11/20.

"Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Incidents can also be reported to GMP online at www.gmp.police.uk.
