
Police are warning residents of armed robberies that were reported this month in Hyde Park on the South Side.
The robberies all took place Aug. 4, and in each case, male suspects in a dark-colored sedan displayed a handgun and took someone’s wallet and backpack, Chicago police said.
A robbery happened in the 5300 block of South Dorchester Avenue at 10 p.m., and another took place about an hour later in the 5300 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard, police said. A third robbery happened at 12:11 a.m. in the 5300 block of South Cornell Avenue.
Suspects in one case were described as two men 25 to 30 years old, 6-foot-1 and 160-180 pounds. In another case, suspects were described as three 15 to 25-year-old males, 5-foot-8 and between 150-180 pounds. They were wearing gray or black hooded sweatshirts.
