Armed robberies reported in Gresham

A series of armed robberies has been reported since June 25, 2019, in Gresham on the South Side.

Police are warning residents about a series of armed robberies since last week in Gresham on the South Side.

In each case, a man with a handgun walked up to victims and took their property, according to a community alert from Chicago police. One of the victims came to the area to buy a cellphone listed for sale online.

Two of the robberies occurred in the 8800 block of South May Street, one about 3:45 p.m. June 25 and another about 11 p.m. July 2, police said. Another hold-up happened about 9:45 a.m. June 28 in the 8900 block of South Racine Avenue.

The suspect was described as a 5-foot-8, 170-pound man between 18 and 21 years old, police said. He had short hair and a tattoo on his face.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
