Armed robberies reported at Southwest Side businesses: police

Three armed robberies were reported in May 2020 on the Southwest Side. | Adobe Stock Photo

Three businesses were robbed at gunpoint recently in West Lawn, Clearing and Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side.

In each incident, a masked man walked into the business, pulled out a gun and demanded money from the register, Chicago police said.

The robberies happened:

  • About 11:11 a.m. May 26 in the 6300 block of South Austin Avenue;
  • About 11:40 a.m. May 26 in the 6000 block of South Kedzie Avenue; and
  • About 8:35 a.m. May 27 in the 4500 block of West 63rd Street.

Police described the suspect as a man between 25 and 35 years old, standing between 6 feet and 6-foot-2 and weighing between 175 and 190 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket, a black face mask and gloves, police said.
