An armed robber stole a van and then, in broad daylight, demanded cash and cigarettes from staff at a Co-op branch.
The incident happened in Main Street, Breaston, at around 4.30pm yesterday (June 10).
According to police, the thief made his getaway in a silver van that stole from a property in Long Eaton last week.
A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: "He made off in a silver Renault Daily van, registration LV09 OVZ, which drove off down Blind Lane towards Stevens Lane.
"This van was stolen from a property in Long Eaton overnight from around 10pm on June 3.
"Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the van parked up between June 4-9 – as well as anyone with any dashcam or CCTV from around the Breaston area."
Police did not confirm what type of weapon was used, but the spokesman asked anyone with video footage of the incident to keep it safe for an officer to view, DerbyshireLive reports.

A nearby resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "They covered it up quite quickly. They blocked everyone in the Co-op.
"It was a really early one because we usually have the church committee here but they couldn't get their food from the Co-op because it was shut."
A spokesperson for the Co-op said: "An incident occurred at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon (Sunday, June 9) when an armed intruder entered our Breaston store.
"Fortunately, no-one was hurt. We appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward to police, who are investigating.
"The store re-opened this morning to serve the community."
