Armed police swoop on street in Neath after alleged assault

Armed officers swooped on a street in Neath following reports of an alleged assault.

According to reports, the incident happened in Burrows Road at around 9.55am on Monday, August 31.

Officers were seen by residents at various locations in the area at around 11am - including at Windsor Road, Neath, and Farm Road, Briton Ferry.

Pictures show a large police presence at Farm Road - which included at least six police vehicles.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and was later released with no charge.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a suspected assault in Burrows Road, Neath at about 9.55am yesterday (August 31).

"Officers attended and were supported by armed officers as a precaution.

"A 32-year-old man was arrested and later released without charge."

Police said they are continuing to investigate the matter and that "enquiries are ongoing".

In the meantime, officers are continuing to appeal for information.
