Armed police swoop on Scottish town street amid 'incident'

ARMED police swooped on a residential street in Airdrie amid an incident on Tuesday morning.

Police were called to an alleged disturbance on Devonview Place at around 6am on Tuesday, July 8.

Officers, including firearms specialists, raced to the scene. Following that, a 37-year-old man was arrested.

He was also taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment. An investigation is underway.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6am on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, we received a report of a disturbance at Devonview Place, Airdrie.

“Firearms officers attended and a 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
