Armed police swoop on Pudsey street after boy, 15, is stabbed with a machete and 16-year-old arrested

Armed police raced to a street in Pudsey and a 16-year-old was arrested after a boy was stabbed with a machete on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 15-year-old victim was found in Claremont Grove with a serious knife wound to his elbow yesterday evening (Mon).

West Yorkshire Police (WYP) say they were called to the area at 5.18pm after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a group of youths in the street.

The force added one of the youths was seen brandishing a machete.

Upon arrival, armed police found the seriously injured 15-year-old boy nearby and he was rushed to hospital for treatment. His injuries "were not considered life threatening", according to WYP.

A 16-year-old boy was subsequently arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent in relation to the incident. He remains in custody at the time of writing and enquiries are ongoing.

WYP are now appealing for witnesses and has asked anyone with information to contact Leeds District CID on 101, quoting crime reference 13210440148.
