Police have arrested 15 people after several cars were pulled over on a stretch of motorway.
Armed police stopped a number of vehicles on the A556 near Knutsford on Thursday morning (August 20) as part of an "ongoing investigation."
The A556 is currently closed southbound between the M56 junction 8 for Bowden interchange and the M6 junction 19 at Knutsford, while police respond to the incident.
A total of 15 people have been arrested and are on their way to police custody, Cheshire Police have confirmed.
Footage from the scene shows a number of marked and unmarked police cars at the side of the road.
A number of armed police officers can also been seen.
At least half a dozen cars appear to have been pulled over and stopped by police.
The nature of the incident or the arrests has not been confirmed.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "As part of an ongoing operation officers have stopped a number of vehicles on the A556 near Knutsford.
"A total of 15 people have been arrested and they are currently en route to police custody.
"As a result of the incident the A556 is currently closed southbound between the M56 junction 8, Bowden interchange, and the M6 junction 19, at Knutsford."
