Armed police swoop on Lanarkshire street and taser man with weapons

Police swooped on a Lanarkshire street last after a report of a man armed with weapons.

Armed officers attended Chesnut Grove in Blantyre at around 10.20pm to find the man causing a disturbance.

He was tasered and take to hospital for treatment before later being charged.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 10.20pm on Tuesday 4 June 2019, police were called to a report of a man armed with weapons, causing a disturbance within a house in Chestnut Grove, Blantyre.

"Emergency services attended and a taser was discharged whilst effecting the arrest of a 27 year old man.

"Nobody was injured during the incident.

"The man was taken to hospital to be checked over before being taken to Motherwell Police Station where he was charged.

"He is due before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday 6 June 2019 and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

"As is routine in these circumstances, Police Scotland will refer the incident to the Police Information and Review Commissioner."
